Goodbye Summer, Hello Autumn!

The leaves are dropping and the clocks are about to change – its goodbye to Summer and Hello to Autumn.

Just like fashion, interiors take on a new lease of life at this time of year. The emphasis of this gorgeous season is on COLOUR and creating a COSY and comforting home.

Preparing our homes for Autumn is a ritual we love every year -whether its introducing small updates to your existing decor or adding a brand new piece. I have put together some AUTUMNAL themes to assist you in your home making.

Wing Chair Bnor

Embrace the colour months-bring mustard yellow, burnt orange, ink blue, teal and rose hip into your home. You could choose one key piece, like a silver grey chair and use an ink blue throw to accent. Alternatively, choose a dramatic yet comforting mood with jewel colours – a purple chair perhaps.

Bring as much of the outdoors in with natural colours and materials. Use rich hues, ranging from amber to moss green as well as the classic neutral – taupe brown. Similarly, choose themes such as woodland charm or highland chic. Alternatively, give an accent wall new life-wallpaper with large floral blooms or add a palm leaf mural.

Create a cosy and relaxed living room or a hearty and comforting dining area- select paint colours such as spiced honey or dutch orange. Similarly, add warmth with velvet touches in burnt orange or mustard yellow and where white and grey dominate ,accessorise with touches of plum. Alternatively, add layers of materials such as wool throws and textured cushions.

When the evenings get darker we need to add ambience and light into a room. For the gloomier months ahead, move your table and floor lamps into a prime position. Create a heart warming focal point in your living room. In addition, add light into your dining area or hallway and create a welcoming mood.

Bold Blue Brushstroke

Optimise the ambience in your home interior with reflective materials. Lighten up your room with gold, copper or brass accents. These metallic touches work perfectly added to art work or textiles. Alternatively, add earthy shades and texture, with handcrafted and global inspired patterns.
